The word used so much these days and what does it mean?
I would say there is plenty of meanings, but mainly it’s the process of becoming conscious of our unconscious programs.
The unconscious is a great part of our being. We learn for example how to drive a car and whilst first we have to concentrate so much on everything, at some stage we do things automatically (unconscious). Therefor creating space for new learning.
We also learn our behaviour respondses and they turn into automatic mode.
Some of our behaviour models are not in accordance with the well-being of all.
Olaf Jacobson writes about this in his book : Kriegs-Trance (war-trance) and explains what is happening in a very simple and easy to understand way.
If you are at war and you want to kill someone, you need to stop feeling empathy for them. Otherwise you can not!
Now it may easily be said that one has lots of compassion, but the question is is that true. Do we really have empathy and compassion?
I really like the following questions: Imagine you are with the person who you love most and feel most comfortable with. Now: Do you feel capable to be totally free and inhibited in that contact? Can you do any non-sense and playful stuff like you know it from your childhood? Can you show your inner freely? As you are deep down in your heart? Without shame or fear to be caught, or to do a mistake, and to be devalued for it? Or shamed? Without feeling stupid? Without fear to accidentally hurt the other? Totally free, authentic, playful, honest, creative, emotionally unblocked and at the same time compassionate and open to the other?
Is there any small resistance in it? I have plenty…..But I also feel such a longing to go to that place of where this freedom is real.
No to get there we need to wake up and realize the unconscious behaviour patterns we have. We need to dive deep down the rabbit hole and discover the places of hurt from which the nightmare arises.
We need to create the space for the healing and integration of these aspects of ourselves.
And from there we can create the new future. From the awakened state of being.
The awakened being is not someone that is fault less, but one that starts to face the faults and defects and that is embracing them as our teachers to the new freedom.
We are at the turning point and we have created that path.
Awakening is not a one step process. It take time and dedication. And community, authenticity and compassion is what supports us on this journey.
I wish you a happy awakening week end.
