Authenticity workshop – Discover Yourself Part 3

Lets start discovering ourselves 🙂

Hurrah, an adventure trip!

We bring our safety haven and our self love as companions on the journey!

Where to start, which direction to go?

Lets follow our emotions. In a way it can be the unpleasant and the overly pleasant ones. The Buddhist will speak of aversions and attachments. The two sides of the same coin.

I wanna give an example of the two sides of the same coin by looking at a young adult. One might totally do what the parents always expected them to do, striving for approval and another might totally rebel and not do anything what the parents want. Both do the same thing, they are very busy attending someones expectations. Both is coming out of emotional attachments, either to the parents approval or simply to their attention in any form.

The moving forward is the discovery of who YOU are and that can often be very surprising. But whilst saying that we are also ever changing beings, still there is some essence.

I remember I had several experiences where I was very quiet and just resting in myself and not into communicating with others. I realized how seldom I do this, how little I allow myself to be quiet and not “entertain” others. Realizing Yes I do that sometimes plus I run away from the moments of quietness, even so I really enjoy them when I can give myself permission to have them.

That’s just as an example of what to discover.

But many times we need to change our conceptual ideas to discover more about us. If you think for example being tight is a negative personal characteristic you will not find your own tightness, it will stay a blind spot for you. You may see it in others and really not like it … the universe always has a way of telling us what going on anyway 🙂

And once you discover for example your tightness, you may discover your need of feeling secure and remember some insecurities from the past. Once you establish contact with your inner child it’s very unlikely you tell it to not be such a wimp and just be generous, because that is what people want from you. Most likely you will understand the need of the child and help it to get what it needs. Generosity is a side product of feeling safe. But it’s not what you aim for. Just like forgiveness is a side product of being there for yourself and healing. Forgiveness is the crust that falls of once you have healed underneath. It happens automatically, it’s not the aim to pick of the crust and than we are healed! It’s just a last step that happens automatically!

So we will dive into discovery mode today. Uncover parts of us that were covered by signs saying “not needed”, “not appreciated”, “can’t survive with this one, do not develop any further….”

And the way we start is by following a negative emotion. I had it before were extreme spiritual people will tell me they don’t have any negative emotions anymore. I generally have trouble believing this, but if anyone shall experience this phenomena, just think about the people closest to you, husband, wife, children and if nothing works , try parents 🙂

We are not looking to check on your conceptual views regarding your childhood, but your emotional integrate. Is it just the adult self that thinks you have it all sussed or is the inner child also happy and has integrated and digested all the emotional experiences. I personally haven’t and I can’t even say where is the end, but I still enjoy the journey and it gets less and less scary.

So lets do it.
